Composite/PVC Vs Timber Fencing

Updated: Jan 6

With the vast majority of our customer choosing composite PVC as an alternative to timber these days we often are asked the pros and cons of each.

With this in mind we have come up with some answers for you from our viewpoint.

Timber Fencing

Pros

  • Cost effective

  • Wide range of designs

  • Natural look

  • Easily painted

  • Environmentally Friendly

  • Adaptable to fit difficult spaces

Cons

  • Requires yearly maintenance

  • Susceptible to discoloration

Composite / PVC Fencing

Pros

  • Maintenance Free

  • Longer lifespan

  • Wide variety of colors available

  • Color does not fade (Composite)

  • Generally regarded as more ascetically pleasing

  • Made from recycled materials

Cons

  • More expensive

  • Adaptation for installation is more limited

While at the end of the day there are arguments to be made for both sides, we are finding that in general customers are deciding that the extra cost is worth it for the maintenance free finish.

Both Timber and composite ranges also have matching side gates if required.

If you are weighting up the options between the two please feel free to reach out to us with any question you may have.
